Lord, Teach Me to Pray
Lord, Teach Me To Pray is a three-part prayer series for women based on Ignatian Spirituality. Part I, Praying Christian Virtues, will be offered in our Parish Center on Wednesdays from 10 AM to Noon from September 15 through December 8.

It helps women meet in a small group to deepen their prayer life and discover what to do for dryness and obstacles in prayer. It also introduces the different methods of Ignatian prayer: meditation, contemplation, and Consciousness Examen. Two trained facilitators will guide the group in prayer and help you to share your faith. Contact Lynda Leaber at 455-8292 for more information.
40 Days for Life
From September 22 through October 31, our community will be uniting with cities from coast to coast for a simultaneous pro-life campaign40 Days for Life.

An all-night vigil for the success of this campaign will begin at 10 PM on Wednesday, September 29 and end at 7 AM on September 30 in the Adoration Chapel at St. Edward. Our parish will also participate in sidewalk prayer in front of the abortion clinic on Thursday, September 30 between 7 AM and 7 PM. Registration for participation in both events will take place following all Masses on the weekend of September 11-12. All are invited to both. If you will not be at St. Edward for sign-up weekend, you may call Barb at 885-5761 to sign up for the sidewalk vigil on September 30 or Sheila at 889-0334 to sign up for adoration on the night of September 29-30. If you cannot sign up for an hour, please come whenever you can.

40 Days for Life is an ecumenical, faith-based effort made up of three key components:
Prayer and Fasting: inviting people of faith throughout our city to join together for 40 days of fervent prayer and fasting for an end to abortion

Peaceful Vigil: standing for life through a 40-day around the clock legal and peaceful witness outside Louisianas largest abortion facility located in Metairie, 3044 Ridgelake Dr., near Lakeside Mall.

Community Outreach: taking a positive, upbeat pro-life message to every corner of our city through media efforts, church presentations, door-to-door advocacy, and public visibility.

The Archdiocesan Administrative Council has approved the participation of Catholic parishes and ministries in 40 Days for Life. If you have any questions, you may contact Peg Kenny at 834-5433 or by email at peggyfkenny@yahoo.com. You may also visit the 40 Days for Life website at www.prolifelouisiana.org for additional information and to sign up for any of the days between September 22 and October 31.

There are many ways to help, just plan to get involved!

You should soon be receiving your Raffle Tickets. If every parish family sold or purchased their book of tickets, this Fair would be a financial success before it begins. Your parish needs your help, so please dont let our community down.
